UNDER 10's
MAKE THE
GRAND FINALS
9.30am Nicholls
Cooma Red Devils hopes of bringing home a premiership trophy are now in the hands of the High Country Hyundai Under 10's after their win in extra time on Saturday 24-17 over Burgmann. The boys who formed the first ever under 10's side for the Club, have developed so well under the guidance of coach Campbell Young and to make the grand final is almost unbelievable. But they have one major hurdle left, to beat Jindabyne in the Grand Final.

The fact they are playing Jindabyne in the Grand Final shows the strength of Junior Rugby in this region as both teams have outplayed the much fancied private schools and large clubs for their places in the Grand Final. The boys will have to be at their absolute best to beat the minor premiers Jindabyne on Saturday, but after their win in extra time on Saturday, anything is possible.
This will be a fantastic game of Rugby next Saturday. Even though Cooma and Jindabyne have always had fierce rivalry when it come to team sports, the Jindabyne Under 10 kids had finished their game on Saturday, came over and cheered the Cooma boys on to their win in extra time, the ultimate demonstration of sportsman ship a team can demonstrate.
If you want to cheer them on they are playing at Nicholls 9.30am Saturday 4 September. The bus will be leaving Centennial Park at 7am for those who want a lift. Be assured we expect to fill two buses plus a couple of cars to make the trip. It is a fabulous result for Campbell Young, the coach, and his team of players most of whom have never played rugby prior to this season, they will make the Red Devils a much stronger club in the future.

Under 12's come home with a wet sail
The Mainstreet Under 12's who played in Black division, only the second team in the history of the Red Devils to play black division finished the season 3 points out of the final four which one would have to consider a fabulous result. The team was coming home with a wet sail and had there been further rounds in the competition they could well have found themselves with a finals birth.
Under 14's unlucky not to make finals
The Cooma Rural Under 14's playing in the Gold division and where very unlucky not to make the finals, they drew with the second placed West's in the final game 10 all, needing to win the game to make the finals. In fact even though they had a better for and against then the fourth placed Marist their % was .05 less then theirs which is why they didn't make the finals, and this is a whole other issue. They too where travelling really well in the second half of the season and showed what they could do, a little too late, to make the semis this year.
Combined Cooma / Jindabyne Under 16's finish on a high
The first ever combined Cooma/Jindabyne Monaro Freight Under 16's where just 2 points and one win away from the final series. Again playing in Gold division against teams that had played together for years, with a team that was only formed this season, one would have to say the result was outstanding. The most pleasing thing was the new friendships formed and the potential for Cooma and Jindabyne to retain junior players for the future of both clubs. The boys should be congratulated for making such a great effort throughout the season as they travelled more than any other team for both training and competition to make the new venture work.
